Day 4 of 365

The Shepherd Who Leads You

“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”

Psalm 23:1-4 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

David knew sheep. He knew they were not brave, not strong, and not terribly smart. But they didn't need to be, because they had a shepherd. Green pastures and still waters aren't rewards for being perfect. They're what a good shepherd provides because that's who He is. Even the valley of the shadow of death has a guide.

Try This Today

Before bed tonight, read Psalm 23 slowly. At each line, pause and picture yourself as the sheep. Where are you in this psalm right now: beside still waters, or walking through a valley? Tell God where you are.
