Day 37 of 365

Talking to Your Own Soul

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”

Psalm 42:5 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul?" The psalmist is literally coaching himself. He's not pretending to be fine. He's naming the sadness and then redirecting: "Hope thou in God." Sometimes you need to stop listening to yourself and start talking to yourself. Preach truth to your own heart.

Try This Today

When a discouraging thought hits today, talk back to it out loud: "Why are you cast down, my soul? Hope in God. I will praise Him." It feels strange. Do it anyway.
