Day 279 of 365

Fewer Words, More Listening

“Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.”

Ecclesiastes 5:2 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

We often fill our prayers with so many words that we forget to stop and listen. God is in heaven. You are on earth. Sometimes the most powerful prayer is the shortest one, followed by silence long enough for God to speak.

Try This Today

Set a timer for ten minutes. Spend the first two minutes telling God what is on your heart. Then spend the remaining eight minutes in silence, just listening. Write down anything that comes to mind.
