Day 309 of 365

Joy When Everything Falls Apart

“Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”

Habakkuk 3:17-18 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

Habakkuk lists everything going wrong: no figs, no grapes, no olives, no livestock, nothing. And then he says 'yet I will rejoice in the LORD.' That tiny word 'yet' changes everything. Joy rooted in God does not depend on your circumstances cooperating. It depends on who God is.

Try This Today

Write your own 'yet' statement. List one hard thing in your life right now, then write: 'Yet I will rejoice in the LORD.' Put it where you will see it this week.
