Day 356 of 365

Ready to Pardon, Slow to Anger

“And refused to obey, neither were mindful of thy wonders that thou didst among them; but hardened their necks, and in their rebellion appointed a captain to return to their bondage: but thou art a God ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and forsookest them not.”

Nehemiah 9:17 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

The Israelites reviewed their long history of failure. They refused to obey. They forgot God's wonders. They were stubborn. And what was God's response? He was ready to pardon, gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and full of great kindness. He did not forsake them. Whatever your track record looks like, God's response to your return is kindness, not punishment.

Try This Today

Think of the last time you failed or fell short. Instead of replaying the guilt, read this verse out loud and insert your name: 'But [my name], God is ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger.' Receive it.
