Day 363 of 365
God in the Still, Small Voice
“And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.”
1 Kings 19:11-12 (KJV) |
What This Means for You
Wind that broke rocks. An earthquake. Fire. God was not in any of them. Then came a still, small voice. That is where God was. We keep looking for God in the dramatic, the loud, the spectacular. But so often He speaks in the quiet. In the whisper. If you want to hear God, you might need to turn down the volume.
