Day 199 of 365

Forgiveness Without a Limit

“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.”

Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV) |

What This Means for You

Peter thought he was being generous by offering to forgive someone seven times. Jesus said seventy times seven, which basically means stop counting. Forgiveness isn't about letting someone off the hook. It's about refusing to let bitterness take up permanent residence in your heart.

Try This Today

Think of someone you've been keeping a mental scorecard against. Tonight, pray: 'God, I release this. I'm choosing to stop counting. Help me mean it more tomorrow than I do today.'
